If 3/5th of a cistern is filled in 1 minute, how much more time is required to fill the rest of it?
A30 sec
B36 sec
C40 sec
D24 sec
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: C. 40 sec
1. In 1 minute (60 sec) the rate fills 3/5 of the cistern.
2. The remaining part is 1 − 3/5 = 2/5 of the cistern.
3. Time for 2/5 = (2/5) ÷ (3/5) × 60 sec = (2/3) × 60 = 40 sec.
