A 25-W bulb and a 60-W bulb both run on the same voltage. How do they compare?
AThe 60-W bulb has the lower resistance
BThe 60-W bulb has the higher resistance
CBoth bulbs draw exactly the same current
DThe 25-W bulb draws the larger current
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: A. The 60-W bulb has the lower resistance
1. With P = I V and V fixed, a higher power rating can only come from a higher current.
2. So the 60-W bulb draws more current than the 25-W bulb.
3. From I = V / R at fixed V, more current means less resistance.
4. The 60-W bulb therefore has the lower resistance of the two.
5. Option two reverses the argument and is the standard trap when power and resistance are confused.
