A metal cube of edge 15 cm is melted and recast into a square pyramid with base edge 25 cm. The height of the new pyramid is:
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: B.
1. Volume of cube = 15³ = 3375 cm³.
2. Volume of pyramid = (1/3)(25²)(h) = (625/3)h.
3. Setting equal: (625/3)h = 3375, so h = 3 × 3375/625.
4. h = 3 × 27/5 = 81/5 = 16.2 cm.
5. So the pyramid's height is 16.2 cm.
