RL time constant:

  1. τ = L/R (current rises to 63% after τ during step input)
  2. R + L
  3. R × L
  4. R/L
Show answer and solution

Correct answer: A. τ = L/R (current rises to 63% after τ during step input)

**RL:** τ = L/R. Step response: i(t) = (V/R)(1 - e^(-Rt/L)). After τ: 63% of final. Diodes across inductors dissipate stored energy when supply switches off (prevent voltage spikes from L di/dt).

Two-wattmeter method measures 3-phase power. Total power:

  1. W1 × W2
  2. Algebraic sum: P = W1 + W2 (regardless of pf)
  3. Just W1
  4. W1 + W2
Show answer and solution

Correct answer: B. Algebraic sum: P = W1 + W2 (regardless of pf)

**Two-wattmeter method:** connect 2 wattmeters to any two lines (current coil) and remaining line (potential coil). Algebraic sum gives total 3-phase power. Works for any balance/unbalance. tan φ = √3(W1-W2)/(W1+W2) gives load power factor.

For sinusoidal v(t) = V_m cos(ωt), peak-to-peak value:

  1. V_m
  2. V_m/2
  3. V_m × √2
  4. 2V_m (from +V_m to -V_m)
Show answer and solution

Correct answer: D. 2V_m (from +V_m to -V_m)

**Peak-to-peak:** V_pp = V_max - V_min = V_m - (-V_m) = 2V_m. **RMS:** V_m/√2. Average over half-cycle: 2V_m/π. **Form factor:** RMS/avg = π/(2√2) ≈ 1.11. Crest factor: peak/RMS = √2 for sin.
