Four friends scored 4, 8, 12 and 16 runs. What is the mean score?
A8
B14
C12
D10
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: D. 10
1. Add all the scores: 4 + 8 + 12 + 16 = 40.
2. Divide by the number of scores, which is 4: 40 / 4 = 10.
3. The mean is therefore 10.
Option 8 is only the second score and 12 is the third, neither is the sum divided by the count. 14 is just a larger score.
