Why is an ammeter made with low electrical resistance?

ATo create a large potential drop across itself
BTo allow measurement of current without significantly changing the circuit current
CTo be connected across a component in parallel
DTo increase the effective resistance of the circuit
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: B. To allow measurement of current without significantly changing the circuit current
An ammeter is inserted in series, so if its resistance were large it would alter the current being measured. Therefore it is made with very low resistance.
