Rogers held that parents help children achieve congruence by giving:

1. Rogers linked the child's self-concept to how they are treated. 2. Congruence means our thoughts about our real self and ideal self are very similar. 3. Parents can help their children achieve this by giving them unconditional positive regard. 4. That is described plainly as unconditional love. 5.
