A parent with a full-time job must choose between a deadline at the office and collecting a sick child. What is this?

1. Each person carries several statuses, and each status carries its own role. 2. Trouble can come from inside one role or from the clash between two. 3. Role strain is the first case, where too much is required of a single role. 4. Role conflict is the second, where one or more roles are contradictory. 5. Parent and employee are two different roles pulling in opposite directions at the same moment. 6. So this is role conflict rather than role strain. 7.
