1. Every organism is given a two word scientific name in Latin. 2. This naming system is called binomial nomenclature, meaning two names. 3. The first word names the genus and always starts with a capital letter. 4. The second word names the species within that genus. 5. Humans are Homo sapiens, so Homo is the genus and sapiens is the species. 6.
