A star is described as four light years away. What does that measurement give?

1. Distances between stars are far too large for kilometres to be convenient. 2. Astronomers therefore use units built on the speed of light. 3. A light year is the distance that light travels in one year. 4. Even though a length of time appears in the name, the measurement is a distance. 5. So four light years tells us how far away the star is. 6.
