For which loop shapes does the torque expression built from N, I, A and B hold good?
AAny shape of loop at all
BOnly square loops of wire
COnly circular loops of wire
DOnly single-turn flat loops
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: A. Any shape of loop at all
1. The expression is derived for a rectangular loop of width w and height l.
2. Its area appears only through the product A = wl, not through the separate sides.
3. The result can be shown to be valid for a loop of any shape.
4. The factor N also covers coils of many turns, so single-turn loops are not a restriction.
