Why can a whole number be multiplied like a fraction?

AIt is written over 1
BIt is always even
CIt is always positive
DIt has no denominator
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: A. It is written over 1
1. Any whole number can be rewritten as itself divided by 1. 2. So 6 becomes 6/1 and the usual fraction rule applies. 3. Being even or positive is not the reason, and the denominator is 1, not absent. _Source: Wikipedia, Fraction, section Multiplying a fraction by a whole number_
