Solving ax + b = c for x gives

Ax = (c + b) / a
Bx = c - b - a
Cx = a(c - b)
Dx = (c - b) / a
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: D. x = (c - b) / a
1. Subtract b from both sides to get ax = c - b. 2. Divide both sides by a to get x = (c - b) / a. 3. Adding b instead of subtracting it gives the wrong sign. _Source: Wikipedia, Elementary algebra, Linear equations with one variable_
