Each plays exactly one of five different instruments (Tabla, Violin, Sarod, Sitar and Flute). 1. Mr. Ajay is a Doctor and plays the Sarod. 2. The sitarist is not an Engineer. 3. Mr. Vinay and Mr. Bijay are not Architects, and neither of them plays the Tabla. 4. Mr. Bijay plays the Violin. 5. Mr. Akshay is a Lawyer and plays the Flute. **Question.** Which instrument can an Architect learn from a Doctor?

BSitar

DViolin
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: C. Sarod
**Working out the table.** From (1) and (5): **Ajay — Doctor / Sarod**, **Akshay — Lawyer / Flute**. From (3): Vinay and Bijay are not Architects → **Sanjay is the Architect**. From (3): neither Vinay nor Bijay plays Tabla, and Bijay plays Violin (4) → **Sanjay plays Tabla** (only one left for him). That leaves **Vinay — Sitar**. From (2): the sitarist isn't an Engineer → Vinay ≠ Engineer. The remaining professions for Vinay/Bijay are Engineering and CA → **Vinay = CA**, **Bijay = Engineer**. | Gentleman | Profession | Instrument | |---|---|---| | Ajay | Doctor | Sarod | | Bijay | Engineer | Violin | | Vinay | Chartered Accountant | Sitar | | Sanjay | Architect | Tabla | | Akshay | Lawyer | Flute | **Answer:** C — The Doctor (Ajay) plays the Sarod; that's what the Architect could learn from him.
