A regular pentagon cannot tile a floor on its own. Why?
AIts sides are not all equal
B360 is not a whole multiple of 108
CIts angles add up to 360
DIts angles are all right angles
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: B. 360 is not a whole multiple of 108
1. Each angle of a regular pentagon is 108 degrees.
2. Tiles meeting at a point must have angles adding to exactly 360 degrees.
3. 360 divided by 108 is 3 and one third, not a whole number.
4. So whole pentagons cannot fit around a point without gaps.
