ANone of the pairs
BOnly one pair
COnly two pairs
DAll three pairs
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: C. Only two pairs
Answer: C. TWO of the three pairs are correctly matched (2 and 3).
(1) Aryadeva - Jain scholar: WRONG. ARYADEVA (3rd century CE) was a BUDDHIST MADHYAMIKA philosopher, a chief disciple of Nagarjuna. He wrote Chatuhshataka (Four Hundred Verses) elaborating Madhyamika philosophy. Not a Jain scholar.
(2) Dignaga - Buddhist scholar: CORRECT. DIGNAGA (5-6th century CE) was a major BUDDHIST LOGICIAN. He founded the Buddhist school of formal logic and epistemology (Pramanavada), wrote Pramana-samuccaya and Hetuchakra-damaru. Considered the father of Buddhist logic.
(3) Nathamuni - Vaishnava scholar: CORRECT. NATHAMUNI (9-10th century CE) was the first of the SRIVAISHNAVA Acharyas in South India. He compiled the Divya Prabandha (4,000 Tamil hymns of the Alvars). He is the foundational figure of the Srivaishnava tradition that later flowered under Yamunacharya and Ramanuja.
So 2 of 3 (2 and 3) are correctly matched.
