Consider the following freedom fighters: 1. Barindra Kumar Ghosh 2. Jogesh Chandra Chatterjee 3. Rash Behari Bose Who of the above was/were actively associated with the Ghadar Party?
A1 and 2
B2 only
C1 and 3
D3 only
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: D. 3 only
Answer: D. Only RASH BEHARI BOSE (statement 3) was associated with the Ghadar Party.
The Ghadar Party was founded in San Francisco in 1913 by Lala Hardayal, Sohan Singh Bhakna and others to mobilise Indian revolutionaries abroad (especially Punjabi diaspora in USA, Canada, Asia) against British rule.
(1) Barindra Kumar Ghosh: WRONG association. Barindra was Aurobindo Ghosh's brother. He was a leader of ANUSHILAN SAMITI in Bengal, involved in Alipore Bomb Case (1908). Not associated with Ghadar.
(2) Jogesh Chandra Chatterjee: WRONG association. He was a Bengal revolutionary linked to ANUSHILAN SAMITI and HINDUSTAN REPUBLICAN ASSOCIATION (Kakori conspiracy 1925), not Ghadar.
(3) RASH BEHARI BOSE: CORRECT. After the failed 1915 Indian conspiracy (Ghadar revolution attempt), Rash Behari Bose fled to Japan where he played a major role in the GHADAR movement abroad. Later founded the Indian Independence League and Indian National Army (initial leadership before Subhas Chandra Bose took over INA).
