A1 and 2
B2 only
C1 and 3
D3 only
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: B. 2 only
Answer: B. Only pair 2 (Nanda Devi - Kumaon Himalaya) is correctly matched.
(1) Namcha Barwa - Garhwal Himalaya: WRONG. Namcha Barwa (7,782 m) is the EASTERNMOST peak of the Himalayas, located in the ASSAM/EASTERN HIMALAYA region (Tibet/Arunachal Pradesh border). It is the easternmost peak above 7,500 m and famous for the Tsangpo (Yarlung Brahmaputra) bending sharply around it. NOT in Garhwal.
(2) Nanda Devi - Kumaon Himalaya: CORRECT. Nanda Devi (7,816 m) is the second highest peak in India (after Kanchenjunga). It is located in the KUMAON HIMALAYA (Uttarakhand). Surrounded by the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve.
(3) Nokrek - Sikkim Himalaya: WRONG. Nokrek (about 1,412 m) is the highest peak of the Garo Hills in MEGHALAYA (northeast India), NOT in Sikkim. It is part of the GARO HILLS and home to Nokrek Biosphere Reserve and Nokrek National Park.
So only pair 2 is correctly matched.
