DStatement-I is incorrect but Statement-II is correct
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: C. Statement-I is correct but Statement-II is incorrect
Answer: C. Statement-I is correct, but Statement-II is incorrect. Statement-I is CORRECT. Israel HAS established diplomatic relations with several Arab States. Egypt (1979), Jordan (1994), and more recently the ABRAHAM ACCORDS (2020) normalised relations with UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco. Negotiations with Saudi Arabia have also progressed (though disrupted by the post-October 2023 Gaza conflict). Statement-II is WRONG. The 'Arab Peace Initiative' was proposed by SAUDI ARABIA in 2002 and ADOPTED by the Arab League. However, ISRAEL did NOT SIGN it. The Initiative offered normalisation with all Arab states if Israel withdrew to 1967 borders. Israel rejected the territorial conditions; the initiative remains an Arab League position rather than a bilateral agreement. The 2020 Abraham Accords took a different (bypass-Palestinian-issue) approach. Source: Ministry of External Affairs / Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Arab League documents.
