Amphibians and reptiles are more limited in their geographic distribution than birds because they:

1. A species can tolerate a hostile season either by enduring it or by leaving. 2. Organisms either must maintain an internal temperature or inhabit an environment that keeps the body within a workable range. 3. Amphibians and reptiles are more limited in their distribution because they lack migratory ability. 4. Without the option of leaving, their range is capped by the harshest season they can survive in place. 5.
