How is the volume of a right prism or a cylinder calculated?
ABase area times height
BBase area plus height
CBase area over height
DBase edge times height
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: A. Base area times height
1. A right prism has the same shape and size all the way from base to top.
2. Its volume is found by multiplying the area of the base by the height of the solid.
3. A cylinder follows the same rule, with a circle as its base.
4. Using only one edge of the base instead of the whole base area misses a dimension, so that answer is too small.
