Which vitamins are named as passing readily through plasma membranes because they are fat soluble?

AVitamins B and C
BVitamin C alone
CVitamins A, D, E and K
DVitamins B, C, D and K
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: C. Vitamins A, D, E and K
1. Lipid-soluble material of low molecular weight easily slips through the hydrophobic lipid core of the membrane. 2. The fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K readily pass through the plasma membranes in the digestive tract and other tissues. 3. Vitamin C appears elsewhere as a coenzyme for collagen building enzymes, not as an example of easy membrane passage. 4. Any list that mixes in B or C is naming water soluble vitamins, which do not have this easy route. _Source: OpenStax Biology (1st ed., CC BY 4.0), Ch 5 "Structure and Function of Plasma Membranes", section 5.2 Passive Transport_
