For 10 values, with the high-income household excluded, the median monthly income is found by:

1. With an even number of values, no single middle value exists. 2. The median is then taken as the half-sum of the two middle values when the list is sorted. 3. For 10 values these are the 5th and 6th in order. 4. Their average is reported as the median. 5.
