A solid sphere of radius 12 cm is cut into two equal hemispheres. The surface area of each hemisphere is:
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: D.
1. Half the sphere's surface area is (1/2)(4 π × 144) = 288 π cm².
2. Add the circular flat face of area π × 12² = 144 π cm².
3. Total = 288 π + 144 π = 432 π cm².
4. So each hemisphere has total surface area 432 π cm².
5. The original full sphere had 576 π cm² of outer surface.
