How does the Braille system represent characters?

ABy thick coloured ridges
BBy patterns of raised dots in a 2-column, 3-row (six-position) cell, read by touch
CBy small flat printed symbols read by colour
DBy Morse-code light flashes
Answer & Solution
Correct answer: B. By patterns of raised dots in a 2-column, 3-row (six-position) cell, read by touch
Each Braille character occupies a small cell with six possible dot positions (2 columns, 3 rows). Different patterns of raised dots in the six positions represent letters, digits, punctuation and special combinations. The dots are read by running the fingertips over the embossed paper — touch, not sight. The system was developed by Louis Braille (himself visually impaired) and published in 1821.
