The **Widal test** is used for diagnosis of:

  2. Typhoid (caused by *Salmonella typhi*)
  3. Tuberculosis
  4. AIDS

**Widal test:** detects agglutinating antibodies (anti-O, anti-H) against *Salmonella typhi*/*paratyphi* antigens in patient serum. Useful 7-10 days after symptom onset. **Modern alternative:** blood culture, IgM ELISA.
