Among people who complete suicide, what proportion have a diagnosis of at least one mental disorder, and which group of disorders is most frequent?

1. Suicide is not itself listed as a disorder, yet having a mental disorder poses the greatest risk for it. 2. Around 90% of those who complete suicide have a diagnosis of at least one mental disorder. 3. Mood disorders are the most frequent of those diagnoses, which is why suicidal ideation is one criterion for major depressive disorder. 4. Anxiety, personality and dissociative disorders are not identified as the leading group in these findings. 5.
